Autumn is such a beautiful time of the year. The weather is cooler, but not cold, and the scenery has changed colors from green to beautiful golds and oranges. There are many reasons why cycling in autumn is awesome, but here are my top 5!

1. Great Exercise For Your Mind and Body

Cycling in autumn is great exercise for your body, in fact, since you are able to ride longer and farther your body is able to gain more endurance and get a great workout. Your body can gain muscle, lose weight, and get fit!

It’s wonderful for your mind too! Exercising daily helps fight against depression and can help if you suffer from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). Just 30 minutes a day can keep your blues at bay!

This is a great thing you can do by yourself or with family or friends. This is an activity that you can get your family involved in and have a lot of fun exploring together and bonding together.

With family and friends, you really create an experience that can really bond you together on another level.

2. Less Crowding On Trails

This time of year means less people on trails. Since it gets darker earlier and is cooler, less people are out on the trails. This frees up space to enjoy your ride and the scenery more.

Less people allows for you to explore more on the trails and maybe enjoy parts of the trails that you haven’t been able to since last autumn. This is a time to enjoy yourself in solitary wonderment of the autumn season.

Try to go on new trails, or the less-traveled trails you tend to avoid. During this time of year, the less-traveled trails can result in you seeing such wonderful scenery and wild animals.

During this time, be sure to watch for overgrown brush on the trails and remember to ride safely.

Since this time of year often includes rainy days and cooler days, you are able to purchase new gear and clothing. Had your eye on a lightweight jacket, but it just wasn’t the appropriate weather? Buy it! It’s perfect for the cool weather of autumn!

Some of the wonderful new fruits to try include: autumn berries, wild grapes, wild mushrooms, fennel seeds, autumn-olives, buffalo berries, and crab apples. Make sure to research your wild forage before consuming anything.

Make sure you do avoid the more dangerous ones such as: yew, bittersweet, black bryony, ivy berries, deadly nightshade, and black nightshade.

You don’t want to risk your life and safety by eating berries that are poisonous or berries you can’t fully identify. Also do not consume Hawthorn if you have cardiac or circulatory disorders.

Autumn is the perfect time for you to plan a bicycle trip to discover a new place! With the weather and temperature becoming more mild and tolerable, this time is ideal to go on a trip to a new destination to bike.

Planning a bicycle trip is a lot of work, but well worth the end results. First you should choose a location that is beautiful in autumn, where the colors change and the scenery is different from the rest of the year.
